Symptoms Of Strokes

By Cory Schuett, 17 Feb 21:55

This article explains what strokes are and their symptoms.

A stroke happens when blood gets into your brain, or when the regular blood flow is prevented from getting to your brain. Brain cells almost immediately start to die and may continue to do so for a few hours.

This is a very dangerous condition, and medical assistance should be found as quickly as possible. Every second is valuable.

Having high blood pressure, diabetes or heart disease and smoking are risk factors for strokes. The danger of having a stroke gets higher the older you get.

If any of these symptoms occurs, call 911 or your local emergency number immediately:

1. Sudden loss of feeling in your face, arm or leg on one side of your body

2. Sudden blurring or loss of sight, more likely in one eye

3. Loss of speech or difficulty talking or comprehending others

4. Unexpected, severe headache for no clear reason

5. Dizziness or a fall, particularly if another symptom is present

If you are trying to tell if someone else had a stroke, ask them to smile. If one side droops call 911. Also you can ask them to raid their arms, if one arms drops or they can't lift it, call 911. Good info here.
