Treating A Sunburn
By Cory Schuett, 17 Feb 22:18
This article explains what to do in case of a sunburn.
Symptoms of sunburn (redness, pain, swelling and blistering) normally come after a few hours of exposure to the sun, and since large areas of your skin can be exposed, sunburn can also trigger headaches, fever and fatigue.
There are things you can do to help treat sunburns:
1. Take a cool bath or shower. Putting a half-cup of cornstarch, oatmeal or baking soda in your bath water can give you some extra help.
2. Put on lotion with aloe a few times throughout the day.
3. To prevent contamination, do not pick at, or otherwise break open blisters. If they burst on their own, use an antibacterial cream.
Home remedies like petroleum jelly or butter should not be used, because they can preclude or postpone healing.
See your doctor if you experience urgent conditions such as rash, itching or fever.
